Dr. Shoemaker has been a California Licensed Psychologist since January 1981. He has held a Sacramento Business license as a solo practitioner for 38 years. Since 1982 he has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians and the American Academy of Pain Management. In 1982 he obtained his certification as a Biofeedback Practitioner from B.C.I.A, and since 1984 he has been a Medical Expert Witness, contracted with the Division of Hearing and Appeals, Society Security Administration, testifying before Administrative Law Judges and cross-examined by attorneys in over 5,600 hearings. With a specialization in pain management. Dr. Shoemaker has brought his background in clinical psychology as well as his exposure to PM & R, and he taught for 20 years as an adjunct clinical professor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of California Davis, Medical Center, Sacramento, CA. Dr. Shoemaker also completed Level C, Level B and Level A certifications with the McKenzie Institute International and presented at the 2001 International Conference in Ottawa, Canada, and at the 2002 conference in Tucson, Arizona.
Dr. Shoemaker and his wife, Jan, have 2 children and one grandson. Their hobby is Scandinavian dancing
