Atef Rafla, M.D. received his medical degree with honors from Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Egypt’s capital city, Cairo. After he had finished medical school and subsequent internships with rotations in obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and pediactrics, Dr. Rafla knew he wanted to work in anesthesiology. He chose a residency program at the University of Southern California, with the Department of Anesthesiology specializing in pain management. Since medical school, half a dozen medical journals have published Dr. Rafla’s research.
Dr. Rafla focuses his practice on anesthesia and as well as pain management and is currently serving as a medical director at a high-class local surgery center which has state of the art equipment in a modern setting.
Dr. Rafla speaks English, Arabic, and medical Spanish. He belongs to the American Field Services (AFS), Egyptian Medical Syndicate, Western Desert Medical Rescue Society, and Christian Medical Society.
